Meet Our Animals

Lucy and Ethel

Meet Lucy and Ethel! They both are escapees from a live market near St Paul. They were found wandering in a nearby parking lot and a kind woman took them home. She took wonderful care of them and now they have found their forever home at Spring Farm Sanctuary! These girls are looking for sponsors that will help pay for their food, treats, fruits and vegetables and vet care. They are loving their forever home at the sanctuary with a…

Sweet Brandi was found as a duckling after she and her sibling were abandoned at a local lake. Brandi unfortunately had to witness her sister’s life being ended by a predator. Luckily, an environmentalist and award-winning nature photographer and filmmaker Jim Brandenburg happened to find her and bring her home to our sanctuary. When Jim was young, his nickname was Brandi, hence how this adorable lady got her name. Brandi has fit right into the flock at Spring Farm Sanctuary…

Tulip came to us from western Minnesota when a passerby found her in the middle of the street. She was found with an injured eye and nose. Luckily, Tulip was taken to a vet, received wonderful care, and was fostered by her kind rescuer until we were able to bring her home to the sanctuary. Sweet little Tulip is now safe and sound, and is as pretty as her name!

Esther the duck

Esther is a beautiful Silver Appleyard duck, who is extremely sweet. She was rescued in January of 2020 on the same day as Rudy the pig (they were in the same area), and we are so happy she will be able to live out the rest of her natural life here at the sanctuary! Esther lived in a backyard with her sister, and one day, a stray dog was able to enter the yard and killed Esther’s sister in front…

rudy the pig

Rudy was found by a worker at a hog farm while cleaning the nursery. All of the other piglets had been moved to a finisher barn three days prior, so Rudy had been left all alone with no care, food, or water for three days. He had been tossed on a pile of dead piglets who had perished during the farrowing process. He was surrounded by his dead siblings, body parts, and half-eaten piglets when he was discovered. The worker…

This gorgeous girl escaped a local processing shop by finding a hole in the fence and running for her life! Someone would have picked her out at the meat shop and she would have been slaughtered right there on the spot. She was found by a pair of compassionate women, and brought to us in good health other than a chipped beak. She’s a beautiful, intelligent, and friendly little girl, and now she has a forever home here at the…

Olive & Lily

Lily and Olive came from a couple in Rochester who rescued them from another Rochester resident who wasn’t taking care of them properly. They’re both 4 1/2 months old. They are very social and talkative. The both love belly rubs, especially Lily! They also love their vegetables but peas seem seems to be their absolute favorite. Lily is a Pekin duck and Olive is a Rouen duck. Pekin ducks are generally used for meat and eggs as well as the…

Jack Benny

Jack Benny was found running through a bean field in Story City Iowa. A concerned area resident was able to coax him into a kennel and took him to a local animal shelter. The man also called Iowa Farm Sanctuary who worked with the agency to contact us and make arrangements for us to pick him up. Jack had either escaped from a truck off I-35 or from a local farm confinement in the area. Unlike Marge, Jack got away…
